Dr. Bahaa Helmy Writes: Egypt's Message to the World... Peace and Love

Truly, the message of peace and love is the greatest message that can be sent or broadcast to humanity from the land of Egypt, which God mentioned in the heavenly religions. President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi attended the Christmas Mass at the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ in the New Administrative Capital, which was built in record time and made ready so that the Christmas prayer would be the first official prayer held there. He delivered a brief address whose gist was: ((We offer a message of peace and love from here, not only to Egyptians or to the region, but to the whole world)), and he went on to affirm that destruction, devastation and killing will never defeat truth, construction, love and peace. That message carries within it all the lofty meanings and values on which the heavenly religions are founded. It is also the most eloquent message to be conveyed, in sound, in image and in reality, from the land of Egypt to the world, to its children, its young people and its elderly, and to the people of goodness. It is, moreover, a message to the people of evil, ignorance and terrorism, telling them that the Egyptian people are as great as their history and civilization, that they will confront your malicious acts with their unity, their tolerance and their adherence to the values of love and peace, and that they will stand up to the forces of evil with unyielding strength and resolve in order to establish these tolerant values. We do not see positive and tangible steps from America and the countries of the European Union to contribute to the war against terrorism, whether in Egypt, Libya or the Middle East region. Support in the form of modern technologies and intelligence for uncovering destructive plots and exposing the crooked policies that support and finance terrorism is scarce. The countries of the world must learn the lesson and return to resounding Egyptian words, most of which have come true, such as (The young people of your countries who joined ISIS in Syria, Iraq and elsewhere will come back to you). They paid no attention until those young people returned and bombings and casualties occurred in many of those countries. They are obliged to contribute to the war against terrorism with the aim of containing it and ensuring that it does not spread to the various countries of the world. The world must also watch and analyze the Egyptian scene and what it expresses of the strength, resilience and unity of this great people, which was manifested in the expression of their will and independence on 30 June 2013, declaring that the members of the Armed Forces and the men of the police are sons of this people, offspring of the good land that includes Sinai, the land of peace, and that they are determined to stand united with the people in confronting terrorism. At the very least, the countries of the world have seen and come to know Egypt's message to the world for peace and love, on a day that will be recorded in history and in the world's human heritage, with all the meanings and values it embodies. It is a message of strength, courage and foresight for those who grasp and learn from past lessons. Egypt is unyielding before its enemies, loyal to its friends and tolerant towards all. It has set out on its path towards construction and progress with determination and resolve, so onward, thanks to the unity and cohesion of all members of society, which no power on earth can harm or touch, by the grace of God Almighty.
