The Other Face of the Current World Order

The Other Face of the Current World Order

Dr. Bahaa Helmy Writes – in Al-Gomhuria: The United States of America greatly promoted the term “the new world order” after the fall of the former Soviet Union and the secession of its states from it in the early nineties, since this order has been the dream and strategy of the West for a long time. It announced to the world that this order aims to form the largest international grouping of diverse states on common issues to achieve the universal human aspirations (peace and security – freedom – the rule of law), a principle worth struggling for, as President Bush said in September 1990. In addition to promoting the cross-border economic and financial benefits and advantages that the capitalist system brings to the various countries of the world once the oversight and restrictions of states and governments are removed. And that the new world order aims to increase investment and achieve development for all the member states of this international grouping or alliance, which is the greatest economic and military power in the world. The West relied in promoting those ideas on two main axes: the first, using the media, art and social media to promote their ideas; and the second, making human rights a war platform for subjugating states and governments that hold on to their sovereignty, borders and creed, so as to impose sanctions on them. While recruiting national groups to tear down those states from within using the slogans of democracy and freedom, in accordance with the style and policies of the American Democratic Party. The West devoted all its efforts to international mobilization around those deceptive goals and humanitarian values, which wrapped their intentions and ill purposes. Then the Gulf War came to reveal the true face of the world order led by the United States, with its announcement of the formation of an international coalition outside the framework of the Charter of the United Nations to target Iraq and destroy it, disband its army and hand it over to extremist groups and organizations that were supported to achieve its goals. The West reaped great profits from this operation, in the form of compensation estimated at more than 50 billion dollars from Iraq as compensation to Kuwait, or in the form of the Gulf states’ contributions to the costs of the war, besides the money obtained by states and terrorist groups as a result of plundering Iraq’s resources. This whetted the appetite of the United States to speed up the implementation of the strategy of controlling the world and re-dividing it in a way that achieves the goals of economic, military and political hegemony over the world and brings down every trend opposed to those policies. The West’s pace in implementing the world order strategy accelerated by targeting Ukraine, where it succeeded in toppling the regime loyal to Russia at the time with the help of the Muslim Brotherhood and with slogans of freedom and democracy, while beginning to change its identity and orientation with large financial support from the European Union estimated at about 17 billion dollars, with the promise of NATO membership. The West turned towards Hong Kong and Taiwan to support them against China and make them a thorn in its back. While storming the Middle East region to destroy Libya using deadly weapons and then lay the foundation stone for religious and ethnic strife. And tearing down Syria and Yemen, supporting the dictatorship of the Brotherhood in Tunisia and elsewhere, while drawing up policies of partition and hostility among the people of Iraq. So the ugly face of the new world order appeared, with its effects on the peoples who were destroyed, whose property was plundered, whose antiquities and identity were obliterated, and whose sons were killed, displaced and expelled from their homes to the border areas of the Western states whose promises they believed and whose democracy they dreamed of, but which abandoned them and the principles of human rights after leaving them in the open to meet their fate. This was strongly rejected again and again by China, Russia and the states of the free world that believe in and work to entrench global security and peace in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and its principles, which are based on respect for national sovereignty and the defence of national security against hostilities. But the alliances that were formed weakened the role of the United Nations and even marginalized it, and violated the states of the world up to the borders of Russia and China to prepare the ground for imposing control over the world. This is what Russia rejected and China rejects, and what every free country and every honourable patriotic citizen will reject, in light of the lessons learned and the exposure of the ugly face of the world order they talk about. We are waiting for another, multipolar order that respects the sovereignty, borders, history and civilization of states, and we must hold on to our principles and our unity and support our military and security institutions and provide them with all the necessary capabilities and capacities to protect the homeland and the future of the coming generations, in light of the lessons learned from the causes of the Russian–Ukrainian war.
